your passion as a career

What is something that you love to do and can do it for 24/7. This is what people need to find. People should find out what they love and enjoy doing and make a career out of it. For myself, I have a passion for food, cooking, entertaining, hosting parties, and anything dealing with food. This is why I have decided to try and do catering. I started by figuring out what in the food business I would like to do. I took a class that was all about the food business--being a chef, a sommelier, food stylist, and caterer. I figured out I would try to see what a caterer was all about since the person telling me about it talked about events, planning menus, etc. of catering. These are things I realized I did when having parties at friends places. So I took a class on catering. The one thing that started my journey into catering was when the instructor said the one important thing about catering that will help determine if you should do this is "you want to create a stress-free event for the client". This made me realize that at parties I always tell my friends to mingle and let me deal with the food and getting things ready. Giving my friends less stress to deal with.

So I have decided to try catering. I realize that life is too short to not even try to do what you are passionate about. Even if you try and failed at least you know and not having to live a life of always wondering what if. So if anyone has an event that they would like to have catered please contact me. Visit my website at www.aroundtheworldcaterer.com to see what i can do.

Go out and explore your passions. Do what makes you happy and most of all enjoy it while doing it.

Connections for catering and event information

I joined this group called NYEP, New York Event Planners a few months ago. It is a forum where event planners and caterers can post questions, ask for volunteers/service to help out in events, ask anything dealing with event planning or catering. I do say if you are either in the event planning or catering business or try to start (like me), this is one of the best ways to get information. All you do is post a message and it will go to everyone who is a member. Then if someone can help you they will respond to your question. This is a great way to learn, find venues, find volunteers, anything dealing with catering. I asked about how much chicken I should serve for a buffet dinner I was catering for and so many people came back and gave me answers. It was so helpful. This way i did not over or under buy the amount of chicken needed.
NYEP also holds events in various venues in the city so event planners and caterers can meet each other and network. I have noticed that event though you might be competing with these other caterers, the circle of caterers in NY are always willing to be helpful and give you information and also might provide servers to contact if you need. So, sign up if you haven't and start learning about the vast information of event and catering that is out there.

The Next food Network star tv show

Has anyone started to watch the Next food Network star TV Show? This seasons of contestants all make me want to change the channel. How do some of these people become an executive chef? I am so Glad that Nipa got booted. How can you be the next food network star let alone a chef or cook and not touch fish? If you are afraid to touch any food, you should not have any right to be in the kitchen. All she knows is Indian food. What about Adam...falling in front of the audience he is cooking for as something funny? How about Jennifer..her technique challenge...whoa the first thing you learn when you are trying to teach someone about a cooking technique is not to say negative things even if you have no idea on how to do the technique they ask you to do. Also, how can you be a food network star when your food is not fully cooked for proper eating (the pink pork, the undercooked potatoes, etc.)

Enough about the negativity...the one semi-good contestant, Kelsey..reminded me of a Rachael Ray and Sandra Lee combination. The stuff that the food network just loves to see..perky personality and a cute girl to attract an audience. At least she knows some techniques and can use them in the challenges.

So you say why all the fuss about this show..because I see that almost anyone who cooks at least 3-4 times a week for themselves, for parties, family or friends knows just as much as these people do. As long as you watch food network shows that teach you techniques (such as good eats, Tyler's ultimate, how to boil water, and some other shows) and find information on there website, almost anyone can try to do the challenges they give on this show and try to become a contestant.

to leave you with this...Happy cooking, eating, and sharing all you love about food.

learning to blog and what about

I found out about this blog site from a friend of mine. He was telling me what I can do. I am learning what I can do with this blog. My friend gave me ideas to talk about catering, food, cooking, anything to deal with food. I am passionate about food. The whole idea of eating, tasting, trying new food, experimenting with new ingredients, etc.. I love to cook. I cook everyday. If I could do it 24/7 I would do it.
So, I decide to do a blog about my love of food, cooking, and catering. I am starting a catering business. I love to help people create events that are memorable and leave lasting impressions. I cater to any type of events for any occassion.
